Value Engineering
INTRODUCTION
Value Engineering (VE) is a deliberate and clear set of disciplined practices aimed at maximizing value for both initial and long-term investment. It was first employed in the manufacturing business over 70 years ago and has been widely used in various industries for many years afterwards.
Value Engineering is more than just a design/peer review process or a cost-cutting exercise. Rather, Value Engineering is a creative, systematic endeavor that examines a project’s needs to achieve the key tasks at the lowest overall cost (e.g. capital, manpower, energy, maintenance) during the project’s life. Value and cost efficiency may be increased by the examination of different design concepts, materials, and procedures employing experienced and multi-disciplinary teams in a group research.
